Where have I been investing my time lately, now that NaPoWrimo (National Poetry Writing Month) has come to an end, and the conferences I was looking forward to in May have been cancelled? Why, mastering the WordPress CMS, of course!
Granted ‘mastering’ might be a bit of a stretch, but I wanted to apply some effort to into giving my site a little lift, especially as I’ve been posting more of my work and we are already on Episode 4 of Listen 2 Me! Lately it’s become clear to me that I use Instagram the way I should be using my website. Instagram is so very easy to use–there is a low, low threshold to learning it, and it creates the illusion of productivity because I’m interacting with the people who are interacting with me. I love the social aspect of it, but I’m rethinking where the “content” I produce should live. Right now, it’s primarily on Facebook, and I want to change that.
Going forward, I’ll be making more of an effort to direct people from my social media channels to my website to see new stuff!
I’m also so excited to say that I posted about applying to the Emerging Writer’s Course at Sage Hill Writing this summer, and won their social media contest to have the application fee waived. I’ve got my eye on a couple different opportunities right now, but that is one Big One that I’m going for! With that and the podcast well under way, plus my full time work, this is looking like it’s going to be a busy summer.
